The Library Mentoring & Support (LMS) program is a joint collaboration between Bookworm and HT Parekh Foundation to provide Mentoring & Resource support to 20 library organizations across different geographies of India. The objective is to strengthen the library program by strengthening the capacity of individuals working within the organization in library work. Participants must be interested in deepening their library practice through theory and practice.
In its third year now, the LMS program provides an opportunity to experience the possibilities of library spaces and to develop one’s own vision and practice for libraries. From experience, library training needs to include hand-holding, direction, mentoring, and nurturing in order to experience a deeper and more sustainable engagement with library work. The LMS program is designed to closely mentor each organization based on where the organization currently is, and shift library practice and understanding across different elements of the library.

Before LMS, library sessions in our space felt like regular classroom lessons. The children often seemed uninterested. Thanks to the LMS activities, I learned how to make sessions more engaging and playful. Now, the children look forward to every library session with excitement. It is amazing to see their eyes light up in anticipation. I feel proud to be a part of their learning journey and help make reading an enjoyable experience.
