Jumblelaya
Second hand store in Goa
Bookworm Trust relies on donations and community support to sustain its literacy and library outreach across Goa. Over the years, the Jumble Sale, a one-day sale for second-hand and pre-loved goods, became a vital source of fundraising, offering both joy and resources to keep our work going.
After 11 years of organizing the Jumble Sale, Bookworm Trust opened its thrift store, Jumblelaya, in a quiet corner of Neura, Tiswadi Taluka in April 2025. It is a sustainable effort to not only collect donations at a permanent location at all times, but to also raise funds all year round.
At Jumblelaya, you will find a range of items starting from clothes for all members of your family for festive and formal occasions to casual and home wear. Seasonal clothing such as woollens are available at throwaway prices too!
Seasonal festive accessories for Christmas laden with generational memories from different Goan homes are some of the precious offerings of Jumblelaya.
We also have a range of thoughtfully donated and curated jewellery and art, including some rare pieces such as a print of the erstwhile Madras town. Our list of accessories doesn’t stop there, come over to browse through our collection of bags, hats, sunglasses, belts, and ties!
At our household and linen section, you will find hand-me-downs of the kind that are not available in the market anymore starting at prices as low as 50 INR. Bowls, glasses, plates, vases, lamps, photoframes, curtains, bedsheets, tablemats of intricate weaves and much more are available for the choosing.
For children, we have a wide selection of engagements such as board games, soft toys, and motorized vehicles. The list doesn’t end here—we have electronic items, musical instruments, a tailoring machine and even your day to day stationery. There is little you can’t find at Jumblelaya!
Burrow Seconds Bookstore
Books are housed in a separate space, the Burrow Seconds Bookstore, right opposite the Jumblelaya store, and offer a wide selection from literary fiction and children’s literature to popular fiction, non-fiction and reference books.
Supporting Bookworm's fundraising
Bookworm’s work extends to more than 100 government schools and 20 communities in Goa, and Jumblelaya, while a simple thrift store on the surface, is a lifeline to keep this work going independently.
