To support the growing need for children library professionals in the country, Bookworm with support from Parag (an initiative of the Tata Trusts) offers a Certificate course for Library Educators in English. The course is the first of it’s kind in India and is offered in a blended mode.  In addition to this course offering, Bookworm conducts school library audits, undertakes consultancy for children libraries ( school or community) and offers training programs, workshops and direct intervention services for libraries for young people. Bookworm continues to be a resource organisation that reaches out to other NGOs who are interested in developing library programs by offering a range of exposure visits, planning and administrative services and mentoring support.

Library Educators Course

The Library Educator’s Course is a Professional Development Certificate course developed by Parag, an initiative of Tata Trusts and being offered in English by Bookworm Trust, Goa since 2017.  On completion of the course, participants are eligible to receive a Certificate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Terms and conditions apply). The course is open to all educators and intended for teachers, school librarians, development sector professionals, literacy educators and language experts. The course is best suited for individuals working with children and books and interested in developing library practices and learning.  Library education for children has multiple possibilities and dimensions as yet unexplored in the Indian context. The Library Educator’s Course offers a unique opportunity to strengthen understanding and academic thinking linked to practice in a well-designed, highly charged environment with some of the best library practitioners in the field. Workshop for Wipro Fellows and Partners

The next Workshop for Wipro Fellows and Partners will be held at Bookworm Goa, from 8th – 13th February, 2021. The 2 part workshop will include a week long immersion within a dynamic library space.  Part 2 will include Field Activity presentations and topping up learning.  The Workshop will broadly cover Vision for libraries within learning spaces for children, Activities to nurture reading joy and learning, Elements of a children’s Library space.  The course is designed for educators, practioners, professionals or anyone else who is interested in knowing the library and its practice.  The workshop is open for organizations and professionals supported by Wipro Foundation.  Participants possessing eagerness, openness to new learning and commitment would greatly benefit from the workshop experience.

Libraries – Chapter I

Bookworm has designed a course called ‘Libraries-Chapter I’ as an introduction to library work with children. The objective of this course is to invite educators, parents, teachers, practitioners and people interested in understanding the core elements of the library and a basic understanding of how to begin the library practice. It is an entry into the discourse and therefore it is named as Chapter I. The course comprises of four modules: Why Libraries? What are Libraries? Library – Its collection and organization, What Libraries can do?  Each module has been made interactive with self-reflection activity, reading, quizzes, videos and sharing of learning through self-test, discussion fora and writing etc. The estimated duration of the course is 8 hrs. which participants can do at their own pace.
