Technology is everywhere. Inventions that would have been unthinkable just a few decades ago are essential components of everyday life now. Libraries and readers too have been swept up in its all-encompassing embrace; Kindle screens wink at us from bedside tables, archives become digitally available, and writers tweet out stories in real time to a breathless audience of millions.
In this issue of Torchlight, we seek to explore various ideas connected to The Digital Age and Libraries. In what ways has technology changed the library? What have we gained and what have we lost? How does the pervasive presence of screens shape the modern reader? Is something lost in the transition from page to screen, from smell to pixels? In what ways has technology enabled access and a global conversation? And what do it’s much-lamented distractions and noise mean for the library and the reader?
Torchlight is looking for your contributions. These can be original commentaries, experiences, and insights. They can be long and short; in the form of text, illustrations, photos, video, audio or any combination of these. Think libraries, think technology and share your thoughts with us.
Send us a proposal of 150 words outlining what you would like to write/create. The Torchlight team will respond to this within 2 weeks.

The decision to accept a contribution will rest with the journal team and will be conveyed to the contributor within a month of receiving it. Editorial changes may be requested.
