Indian Public Library Movement  came up with a basic spoken English course, ‘Basic Learning Practice: Easy way to learn English’.  It contains a exercise book and CDs with audio files that are the references for the exercises. The course material was initiated by the Indian Public Library Movement through it’s network of Public Libraries and they invited Bookworm to participate in this exercise.

We started our classes  in our community library in Chimbel with a group of children between the ages of 10 – 15 years. A group of 13 enthusiastic young girls showed up. They had even made a point to dress special and were excited.

For our class we played the audio files, while the girls listened attentively and then answered the activities in their book. They even managed to converse among themselves imitating the few exercises and seemed to grow in confidence.

The level of coping was a little different among them, as some students completed more than the share of exercises assigned, while some needed help. We decided to group the students based on their level of coping and give extra activities to the students who can cope with them.

It was a wonderful experience, as the students were eager and tried to do their best.
