Jumble Sale in Aldona

Bookworm, a library based organisation is organising a fund raising Jumble Sale in Aldona. The funds raised will support Bookworm’s Library in Schools Program (LiS) which is seeded by the Alban Couto Library Project Fund. The Program began with library support to St. Thomas Boys Primary School and Auxilium, Carona. It has since been extended to St. Thomas GIrls Primary School, all in Aldona village, Bardez Taluka, Goa.

Through the Alban Couto Library Project presently 549 children between Grades 1 – 4 receive a library experience. These sessions include conducting library classes with read alouds, literacy and literature related teaching and learning and book lending every week of the academic year. Each class is resourced with two resource persons and armed with all literacy material and books that a grade room requires. All schools are under resourced and serve communities that would have not had access to a library facility and the pedagogic and visionary perspective that Bookworm’s Library in Schools bring. The work needs to be continued and sustained to grow a community of readers.

The Jumble sale organised by Bookworm is a massive effort and drive to raise funds from the community who support Bookworm’s work and vision and help spread a love for reading. The Jumble Sale enables a community to recycle goods to others, enabling a worthwhile organisation to generate funds in the process that also support good work.

The Jumble Sale is a fund raising initiative with support of the community of Aldona. The Aldona Institute will partner with Bookworm to raise funds for the community together with the Alban Couto Library Project.
