Library Educators Course

Vidya Bhawan Society ( Udaipur, Rajasthan) has launched the first ever Library Educators Course. 

This course objectives are 

  • To enable library educators to conceptualize library as a shared space for all curricular areas, especially reading for pleasure.

  • To capacitate and sensitize library educators to respond to the context-specific needs of their children, school and community.

  • To develop an understanding about children’s literature and ways of engaging with it.

The first batch of the course commenced in September and spans a 6 month period. The course is supported by SRTT ( Sir Ratan Tata Trust ).

Bookworm is honoured to receive admission to the course along with 11 other organisations from other parts of India. The first contact and the launch of the course had Chetna Malhotra and Isa H Flores of Bookworm immerse themselves in themes around vision and purpose of a library program, book selection and diversity in books, how to plan and organise an effective library program , how children learn and what is the reading process all about. Faculty for the course are from Vidya Bhawan Society, SRTT Elementary Education team, Azim Premji Foundation and Reading Group, Delhi. The course is designed around theoretical understandings, practical work, discussions and dialogue. 

We look forward to strengthening our understanding around library work and library education and disseminating learning to wider audiences within our own network and community.
