Suniti Namjoshi and Radhika Menon’s visit

We were recently graced by a visit from Suniti Namjoshi, children’s writer and fabulist, and Radhika Menon, senior editor from Tulika Publishers. After a quick round of introductions to the rest of the team at Bookworm we all settled down for a brief chat.

Suniti commented that writing for children was not an easy task. Sometimes what she thought was a good story was not viewed in the same light by the publishers. She was interested in hearing how we used stories at our intervention sessions in schools and the MOP program. That was when she posed the question,   “But what makes a good story?” There was a quiet moment while everyone pondered the question. Each had their own view on what it is that actually makes a good story. However, as a team, we did agree on the fact that the story had to make a meaningful connect to the reader or listener.

It was a rare moment when 3 worlds met- book publisher, author and practitioners.

The day was marked, and so were our copies of Suniti Namjoshi’s books, that are now on our shelves.
