LiS is back in KMS working with Grade 5 and 6 every Wednesday. It is always comforting to meet our MOP children in the classroom. It give them an edge over knowing the ‘library teachers’ and the harassed library teachers the reassurance of an insider spokesperson.

We met Rohnini from the Tonca site, Tushar from the St. Inez site and know that we will have more common children reading and learning as both MOP and LiS grow.

Krystal  lesson planned for The Village Fair. She did it well . She pitched it at the cognitive level of the children bearing in mind the language comprehension and language of the classroom. The session was multi lingual but I think it assured the children that we wanted them to express their own ideas while accommodating new ideas from the book.

A fair is a lovely experience, that resonated with the children. They had all had the experience of the fair and the classroom resounded with voices and answers to questions like  ‘ what do you do in the fair’, ‘ what would you buy at the fair’ and so on.

The children in Grade 5 used their new Library activity books to draw and label items that they would find at the fair. It was nice to see some organic drawing and then labeling. We are on our way. Soon we must ask for more expressive writing but until then we are happy to talk village fair and listen  to Radhika Meghanathan’s story about Meenu and drown ourselves in Nancy Raj’s illustrations.
