Creative Writing Workshop 2013 – Day 6

Our writing together has come to an end or has just begun. It depends on which way one looks at it. I have been doing workshops with children for years. I supported the development of a Creative Writing course at a primary school called Shiksha Niketan for nearly 11 years, working with one grade at a time, working with multi lingual children and then sharing my interventions with teachers and formalising it into a program for the school. However, nothing has enriched me in recent years as these past 6 days!

I am still amazed at the kinds and forms of writing we did. The ability to stay connected with the children enough to keep the workshop joyful, comfortable and happy. Some of the words they used to describe the workshop are

Today, they worked on a more formal yet playful approach to a book review, remembered all the activities and purposes of play and writing that we engaged in and wrote hard.

We had a very special session and this group of young ones I hope, are inspired to write for a long time to come.
